Go - Themes - Layout Templates - Forum Wrapper

Directly Under $[forum.title] add all the code below - at Line 19

  <br><font color="#FFFFFF">ADD YOUR FORUM DESCRIPTION HERE</font>


You can change the font colour to any other colour
Type in your forum description

Then click to save changes

If you added a banner on your forum - 
You can add the forum description so it will show under your banner
Perhaps add a welcome message under your banner

See new text added under the banner

This topic keeps confusing me haha. I see the title and think it's to add a description below a subject on the thread list page

That's because!
It would not let me add me [Template] add short description under FORUM title text/banner  

Wish we could add longer titles to thread title subjects

@xsteveuk why not just "[Template] Description under forum title & banner" or "[Template] Text under forum title & banner"

Is there any way to increase/decrease the font size?

And/or to use a different type of font?

You could try below I tried on my beta board and worked ok


For Description under your forum text title

<br><font size=2><font color="#FFFFFF">ADD YOUR FORUM DESCRIPTION HERE</font></font>

You can change the font size 2 to another size      2 -  3 looks about right


If you have the description under your banner

<br><font size=2> <font color="#FFFFFF">ADD YOUR FORUM DESCRIPTION HERE</font></font><br><br>

Thanks @xsteveuk that's really helpful. Do you reckon it's not possible to change the font or is the font over-ridden by font settings elsewhere e.g. "default forum font"? Actually, I suppose I could stop being lazy and experiment! Hahahaha but if you do know then do let me know

Don't forget that you could either add the style directly to the text, or wrap the text in a div and assign it an id. You could then add the changes direct to your stylesheet and manage them from there, if you chose. You could even import the fields to the Visual tab of the styles manager. ;]

So in the Forum Wrapper put:

<div id=whatever-div-id-you-want>FORUM DESCRIPTION HERE</div>

The id can contain letters, _ and - but no spaces.

Save that and go to the colours and styles part, click on the style sheet and at the bottom paste:

[As you currently can't save the style sheet this is a gamble.]
#whatever-div-id-you-want {
color: @banner_text_color;
text-shadow: @banner_text_shadow;
text-decoration: @banner_text_decoration;
font: @banner_text_font;
font-variant: @banner_text_caps;
text-transform: @banner_text_case;
font-size: WHATEVER FONT SIZE YOU WANT;
}

I copied the variables from the banner section so that the description would match the look of the Forum Title, you can remove any of these you want and choose to put absolute values like georgia or whatever. It's also possible to add variable like alignment if you want them.

I'll test it as soon as you can save again.

Now saving is back I've checked this and that all seems to work fine. It is also possible to make the font size the same as the banner_text and as I said any of those other variables can be set to your choice rather than to match the banner text.
