Dazzal - if an email came back as undeliverable, assuming you just clicked reply and not mistyped the address, then it was a technical fail somewhere along the line. It was not an action by the Abuse Team. I felt they didn't want to address it because of the tone of the email. That's all I can go by. FWIW these messages (saying your email was undeliverable) are not human-generated, they're default / automated messages so there would be no "real person" tone on them. It's like getting a 404 message on a website.

I still have the email. I will copy it to Scott's PM system. Fair enough! that's the best course of action since I am of course just making some conjectures I showed my email and it was perfectly fine. I had even cut and pasted the whole email and put it on a new email to send to the abuse dept. and it still did not go through. Since the decision is made that a feature request cannot be done to limit profiles, it's fine with me if you mark this thread completed. Approximately 12 owners have experienced the same multiple profiles/same IPs/same user names. Since they don't want to come forward I have nothing else to say. Thanks for your time!

I just want to be very clear that there was no "decision" here; I am not a member of ProBoards staff, so I cannot make any decisions on their behalf of how they want to operate as a business. All I wanted to do was levelset your expectations: what you're asking for isn't logistically feasible without requiring an extensive amount of personal data. It is effectively impossible, provided that you do not want ProBoards to start requiring your government ID, social security number (or equivalent), installation software that would allow ProBoards to ban your hardware, and other things of that nature. Again, I am speaking about the logistics of implementing such a feature, and what hurdles this implementation would face, and what would be required to make such a thing happen. I am not ProBoards, and I did not "decide" anything.

Where in my comment did I say that you made the decision? I am stating that throughout the thread comments have been made to the effect that it's not a good idea to explore limiting the profiles. You were the last person to reply to me. I explained what happened with my email. I explained I am ready to drop this. Fair enough?

As far as I know, ProBoards has not made a decision, so in the absence of that I haven't the foggiest idea where you got the impression that something has been decided other than my posts discussing logistical limitations. I was just erring on the side of caution - not specifically with you, though that was the catalyst for my post, but for **anyone** reading that might misinterpret my words as words from a PB employee. That's all!

Kami Because the Admins involved with me in this request for limited profiles are reading this thread and came to the same conclusion that I did. Craig gave his opinion and so did you, which is fine. Everyone has the right to their opinions. You are stating you are not part of the staff on the support board, but you still represent them, Kami. You are a V6 designer and your comments weigh heavily with anyone reading this. Many have been waiting all this time to see how V6 is going to play out. I can go to Tapatalk, Jcink, Xenforo and other hosts that don't allow unlimited profiles. I don't care for Tapatalk, but if one wants up to 10 profiles you have to pay for it. If I like V6 I will be willing to give money toward Proboards, but I want to be sure I like it. If not, I'll go somewhere else that has limited profiles. Xenforo software kicks out duplicate usernames or email addresses. The main issue with that is I don't want to pay for the forum. I would rather give my money toward the Proboards peeps if I am satisfied with V6.

While I definitely don't want those features being the default for Proboards as a whole, having the options to implement them for individual forums sounds great. Let the Admins set the number of profiles they will allow users to have on their forum.

Ok folks I'm going to wrap this up and clarify a couple things along the way.
1. We do not allow duplicate usernames on a forum.
2. A request was presented for consideration that seeks to limit the number of accounts a user can make as a solution to an issue of a user making multiple forum registrations. The thread was marked as feature request to explore the possibility on a forum level.
As pointed out in the thread and confirmed by the OP, a single user can use different IPs and email addresses to register forum accounts. Currently there is no method to positively and/or preemptively identify a user or multiple users registering accounts as being a single entity if multiple email addresses and IPs are used.
As acknowledged in this thread and by the OP, even if a limited account feature was installed, it would not solve the issue at hand - and to repeat - because a user can use multiple email addresses and / or IPs.
Note we do block email domains and IPs that are associated with malicious behavior. However if a forum encounters an issue of malicious behavior (violating our TOS or includes widespread spamming/trolling), we encourage admins to use the Report Abuse link and provide as much information as possible for us to investigate and take action.
For member issues, smaller instances of spam, etc. we provide the admins with the necessary tools to screen accounts, ban accounts, and delete accounts (and posts made by unwanted users). All forums have permission settings that allow the admin to set the access and visibility of content as well as define participation. We offer the ability to define groups and assign various levels of admin/moderator powers so the admin can have a staff to assist them, should they choose. One of the more recent additions to the arsenal of tools an admin has is the ability to automatically add a new member to a group upon them registering. This feature has many uses one of which being the option to limit where a new member can access and/or participate - this can be an additional vetting tool.
We encourage admins to avail themselves of the tools we provide. This is why they are there.
We will take the feature request under consideration (as we do all requests).
Thank you.
