1b5085 - I assume you're testing with an alternate account of yours? If your 'account' is viewing the board and you switch back and forth to test, the board icon for new will not show as you're already on the board. However the thread's new icon should display, unless you're viewing the thread.

Login A (user) in browser a (Safari) > start new thread in private board > logout
Login B (admin) in browser b (Chrome) > map-icon 'new' in board list? yes > 'new' icon in thread list? yes > reply in thread > logout
Login A in browser a > map-icon 'new' in board list? no > 'new' icon in thread list? yes

1b5085 - weirdly it works on my main test forum, but not on my other. I'm a little stumped at the moment, and trying to see what's different.

1b5085 - ok, my apologies - it doesn't work. The alternate test account I was using was in a hidden staff group. (Embarrassed I didn't catch this, thought I was using a 'blank' account.)

I guess one work around would be to advise the member to bookmark their threads on the private board so even if they don't get the board icon indicating 'new', they will get a notification on the nav menu.

I'd be happy to mark it as one, but to be honest it's not something that will change in the near future.
