I wish his real life were more like the Chandler Bing character be played on Friends. He often described so much struggling through substance abuse. I was proud of him for getting sober and writing his book. I often questioned whether the financial success of Friends was "worth it" to him, given the anxiety the show caused him.

Information surrounding the cause of his death is obviously still being investigated. It currently appears that he drowned in his jacuzzi at his private residence while his assistant was running an errand for him. No drugs were found at the scene, but an autopsy will likely be done. He was only 54.

I wish there were a better outcome for him. I hope he spent his last moments in absolute peace and happiness. I primarily know him from Friends and interviews he's done, but that doesn't change my well wishes for him. I hope he's finally at absolute peace with himself and the world.

Very surprised to discover this today, it will definitely add a somber element next time I re-watch. No denying the man's wit and presence. From what I've read, it seems like he had his fair share of complex and difficult times, I hope he's found some sort of peace now, whether he was the one looking for an out or not.

It’s the image which has stuck with me all day. Very poignant and, as you said…apt.
I’ve been avoiding the news for days, then, when I watched, this awful news was waiting.

This broke my heart when my friend told me at work, such a well-rounded guy with a huge heart who wanted to be recognized for who he really was rather than his friend's character.

May he forever laugh it up with John Candy and Robyn Williams in heaven.

So far, the cause of death is listed as "deferred," which means further investigation is necessary. Everyone with an opinion on the internet is claiming drugs, but he had just exercised before getting into the jacuzzi, which can be hard on the heart, especially if his heart had already been weakened by past effects on it from years of abuse. In fact, his heart had stopped during a surgery in the past.

We'll just have to wait and see.

My favorite role of his was with Bruce Willis in "The Whole Nine Yards."

People on Monday reported that the “Friends” star, who was in recovery from addiction, wished to assist others in overcoming drug and alcohol abuse.

Last year, while marketing his bombshell memoir, he told the New York Times that he had spent about $10 million trying to get sober over the years.

He also recalled a near-death incident at the age of 49, when his colon burst due to opioid addiction.

At the time, he was in a coma for two weeks and was hospitalised for five months

Anyone catch the tweet the former snl writer put up fully mocking Chandler's death? I was so mad. Like how do you get off mocking a death like that? He wasn't funny. It hurts when people say mean things about the deceased. Sure, some people make morbid jokes, but idk. It bothered me a lot.

I'm about to do a Friends re-watch.
